There are a number of laws that are designed specifically to protect employee rights

 

 

The EOC or Equal opportunities commission

 

The equal pay Act

 

This act was introduced to ensure fair treatment of all workers

 

Defining equal pay for men and women doing equal work

 

This act was amend in 1984 to include terms and conditions of employment

 

In brief the article 119 of the treaty of Rome is designed to ensure the both men and women get equal pay for equal work

 

The 5ex Discrimination Act

 This act was designed to ensure the no person is treared less favourably the another on the grounds of thire gender

 

Employers may not make assumptions about a man or a womans capablility to do a particular type of work

 

An example of this would be a manager is not allowed to say a woman cant work on a building site because the work is to hard

 

The act also address indirect victimisation and pregnancy

 

Also addresses positive discrimination aka positive action
